Client reports that exiting the Financial Reporter is extremely slow and sometimes they actually resort to ending task. I had them log into the sample data to test for data set relationship, but financial reporter exited slowly there also.

Ideas appreciated.

Hi David,

Would it be possible for your client to have the task manager running when they click the exit button on the financial reporter and see whether it's busy trying to do something, or just waiting for some kind of something from the outside world?

Thanks

Client reports that applications in Task Manager are Inbox-Outlook, Adagio Ledger -, and Maintain Financial Reports - [GL!Report1]. Under Process utilization for CPU ranges 1-14 for LedgerFinRep.exe, system (02), IAANTmon.exe (05), Ledger (01, and taskmgr.exe.

Client, also, just reported that closing is not slow, if accessed by Reports/Print Financial Reports. Only the icon or Maintenance/Maintain Financial Reports is slow closing Financial Reporter. I understand them be slightly slower, but not to this degree.

As always, thanks for your input.

David

Hi David,

Using the Maintain Financial Reports function locks some multi-user resources (writing to EZSEMTAB.dat) when opening, and releases those resources (with another write) when closing. This is one difference between this and the Print Only mode.

Do they have a virus checker running in auto-protect mode?

They use Symantec Corporate Edition and yes it is running in auto-protect mode. I have have someone exclude the Softrak and ASP directories to see if that solves the issue.

Thanks for the knowledge.

You should exclude the data folder
