I'm using Wellspring blank check stock. Their template aligned perfectly until a dealer removed/added the specific codes I needed (in the advice sections). The advice sections still align perfectly. However, neither I, nor the dealer can get the check portion to align properly. Everything prints "up" about 5/8". I've played around with the check design software for hours, but I don't find the help info helpful and can't figure this out. Help please!

I have seen some cases of this; it seems to vary with a number of things:
-- the printer or printer driver
-- The setting under Control Panel / Regional Settings / Advanced / Language for non-unicode programs (Seelct English - United States)
-- The setting under Control Panel / Display / Settings / Advanced / DPI setting (shouod be Normal, not large fonts)

In one case, I had to selct the MICR fields at the bottom of the cheque and use the arrow key to move them down until they almost "dispappeared" behind the bar at the bottom. You'll have to experiment: go down too far and Windows may trigger another page.

I'll check this out. I've tried selecting and moving the entire "check" portion down, but it seems to print farther up on the check, rather than down.

Dear Ralph,
I checked my settings as referenced in your post. They're as you suggested. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Are you printing checks with a laser printer or a dot-matrix printer?
What is the layout of your check - check/advice or advice/advice/check, etc?
Can I confirm that the advice section on your check is printing as expected, both in terms of size and position? And that it's only the check section that is vertically mis-aligned by 5/8"?

If indeed the advice is a laser form and perfect, and only the check is vertically off (not horizontally), then we can probably rule out a system/printer driver situation and focus on the check specification. You can print the check from the designer (to plain paper) to test print alignment without using up check stock.

If the check comes after the advice, it may be that the height of the advice footer section is too big (or too small) by 5/8". Or whichever section happens to be immediately before the check.
Also determine if there are any fields hiding underneath the check section title bar. Left-click on the grey 'Check' section title and use the up/down cursor key to move it a bit. If there is any fields hidden, delete them. Then move the section title bar back in the same way.

I'm printing with a laser printer. Layout is advice, advice, check at bottom. Advice sections print perferctly.

I have managed to fix the check portion, though I couldn't say how it did it, unfortunately.

Thanks to all for help and advice.
