Can the total weight spec (F26) be based on the item's price unit of measure? Right now it is based on the unit of measure specified in Inventory Company Profile.

That means that the total weight is only accurate if all items are sold in the Profile's unit of measure.

My client sells most items by the case (1000 eaches), but some items are stocked and sold by the each, although they are bought by the case. The weight is off by a factor of 1000.

This is becoming more important for integration with 3rd party shipping software, to help determine the shipping charges.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

There are no options to change values for spec codes to be based on different unit calculations. If a new calculation is required, a new spec code would be required. For example, there are a number of different spec codes for Items, for prices based on various units of measure.

Which section in the order specification is the F26 field in? This is a 'Total' field, so it belongs in the page footer section rather than the detail section.

Can I confirm that your client has some item on an order where the selling unit of measure is 'case' (1000 each), but the stocking and pricing unit of measure on the item master record is 'each'? Just to attempt to replicate the situation.

Which unit of measure are you referring to in the Inventory Company Profile? I see places for labels for Weight and Dimensions, but not a place to select a default Unit of Measure such as stocking/pricing/costing units.

I tried this with sample data (selecting DOZEN as the selling unit of measure) for 2 different items on an order, and using the 'All spec' to print an order confirmation. I can see the expected total weight in the page footer using code F26. One item is priced at Each and the other item priced at DOZEN. It is not off by a factor of 12. I did not use Alternate Price Lists in my test, to keep things simpler.

In order to be able to delve into this further, I would need more information as to how the master item is set up for stock / price / cost unit of measure and what the conversion factors are, what unit was selected on the order for the item, and which section in the specification the F26 field is located. I would also be interested in which unit (IC company profile) you are referring to. If you are correct, changing this value would change the result of any printed OE spec.
