After doing a clean install of Adagio Purchase Orders on my laptop, when I launch the Purchase Orders I am told that I need to run the workstation setup. This is a standalone installation on a laptop, installed on drive c. There are no mapped or substituted drives on the laptop. The odd thing is that the program actually launches. It appears in the Windows task bar while the workstation setup message is still on the screen. I click on the PO icon in the task bar and everything works OK. I say no to the workstation setup warning, the message goes away and PO then works as it should. This workstation setup message appears every time I launch Purchase Orders. During the most recent reinstall, I installed the work station component and I ran it when requested. After doing that, the next time I launched PO, I was again asked to run the workstation setup.

It works correctly on my various other computers. I have downloaded the PO program and service pack several times, completely uninstalled and reinstalled after deleting the Purchase Orders folder. This is more of an annoyance and curiosity than a serious problem, but I would nonetheless like to resolve it.

Laptop is running Windows 8, 64 bit. Laptop has Intel Core i7 and 4 Gb RAM. Adagio Purchase Orders 8.1C (130913).

Hi Brian

Until you get a "real" solution, try this workaround - http://www.softrak.com/ubbthreads/ubbthr...to_da#Post32706

Thanks, Steve. I renamed both folders and the problem went away. They don't use Vital eSafe and we can always find a pdf solution.

I remembered having seen a similar discussion on the forum, but my searches failed to bring me to them. Do other consultants searching the forum always ignore the internal forum search engine and go outside the forum environment to Google to search the Softrak forums, or have others found out how to use the forum native search engine effectively?

Hi Brian

I search both ways - in this case, I searched the forum for VitalESafe and the thread came up. Of course I knew what I was looking for because it was my posting.

Hello Brian,

The Forum Search is reasonably good, especially if you make use of the Advanced Search Tips (+word / -word / and "quoted string"). You also almost always need to adjust how far back to search, as the default is to display only topics posted in the last week.

However, pretty much our entire web site is searchable with Google, and you'll usually get a correct hit as long as you include the words "adagio accounting" in the Google search string.

Thanks, Andrew. What would any of us do without Google? When 4 year-olds ask questions that their mothers can't answer, the 4 year-old says, "well, Google it, Mommy."

P.S. I just installed OE on my new laptop and the workstation setup message reappeared. Steve's solution fixed it again.

Hi Andrew,

The biggest problem with the forum search is that each item in a thread can be listed; for example the recent thread "Crystal Report Blast" will return 14 results - one for each response in the topic. I prefer the internal search engine for the Softrak site. The same search will only return two results, and it's much easier to see that they are the same thread. And 95 percent of the time that's all I'm looking for; a pointer to a particular thread.

Thanks

I am adding to this thread because I believe this to be a related, albeit, not exact issue.

I have recently installed on a LAN at a new client, GL, AR, OE, and ePrint. I have a strange situation with one of the workstations. This workstation is Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.

Workstation setup was done while signed on as Administrator. OE loads and runs normally. Signed on as User #1, OE loads and runs normally. Signed on as User #2, OE requests a workstation setup. Running workstation setup does not resolve this as there is also a "mapping issue" with this user(details below).

IT has added a TEST user profile to this workstation, OE loads & runs normally.

Mapping Issue:
I initially installed all Adagio modules to the "I" drive with all workstations mapping Adagio to "I". A conflict with other applications resulted in IT reassigning and remapping to "P". This was successful excluding User # 2 on the one workstation. After running workstation setup, the user receives a message that it cannot find the files on "I". Attempting to manually point the program to "P" results in the workstation setup prompt.

I have read all the posts about similar problems but cannot rename AdagioPDF and expect ePrint to work.
I do not know if "Run as Administrator" will resolve the issue if this one user keeps cycling back to "I".
Since the "TEST" user on this workstation had no problems I am inclined, in the interest of expediency, to suggest that "TEST" replace User #2; however, felt I should share this information with the forum in the hope that any additional evidence would ultimately assist in the resolution of this kind of issue.

I welcome all thoughts and advice.

Thank you,

Sandra
