Prospect prints a big batch of customer statements once a month. They want to print all of them into one, big PDF and have ePrint file it away (probably overkill for ePrint). ePrint makes separate PDFs for each statement. Is there a way in ePrint to concatenate the batch of statements into one file and name it something like "May 2013 statements.pdf"?

Separate files may be acceptable but I want to try this first.

Matthew:

I'm not aware of any way to do this with ePrint. It could be done with PrintBoss.

What purpose would this surve (having a single file each month)?

Since this is only once per month, why not simply print to the AdagioPDF driver and name the resulting file appropriately?

Check out a utility called PDF Factory . It stays open after the initial print job and continues to add more pages (from any application or combination of applications). I think it is about $50 but they may be a free trial version.

The purpose is to have one, big file with all of the month's statements that can be easily opened and searched when a customer makes an inquiry. Currently, they print a big stack of statements each month and put them into a big binder which then goes onto a shelf. When there is a question, they pull the binder off the shelf and look for the statement. They see the concatenated file of PDF statements as the electronic equivalent of the big binder.

Yes, PDF Factory and other PDF writers have concatenation options. They can always use ePrint to make the PDFs and one of these tools to concatenate them. I'm hoping to have ePrint do it directly.

Printing to the AdagioPDF directly driver won't work because each statement is a separate print job.

I think I can convince them that separate statements segregated by monthly folder is a better way to go. If they get a call, they can jump into ePrint, go to the month folder and then find the customer's statement.

They can also reprint the customer's statement directly from the Customer Inquiry tab - isn't that easier?

Look for ePrint to be able to concatenate PDF's in a future release.

Matthew:
Here's what worked for me:

-Click on "Setup" button and set destination to AdagioPDF (or any other PDF driver). Close Setup.
-Click on "Preview" button - shows all statement pages
-Click on the Print icon and save the file with the name that you want.

I know there are some forms that are a separate print job for each Customer where this wouldn't work but it worked OK for me here.

The solution may be even easier than that.

Preview the statements, then click the Save-as Icon (the envelope) in the Crystal Report header and save the file.

This does not mark the statements as "printed" so you will have to rerun them using printing or emailing.

Statements are not printed using Crystal. Sorry.

If Adagio PDF is set as your default specification printer, this still works.

-- Preview statements
-- Click the printer icon in the preview
-- Select the filename and location for the PDF file.

You end up with one PDF file containing all the statements.

As mentioned before, you still have to print or email for AR to recognize that you have actually printed the statements.
