There are 2 ways to get transaction details from the G/L to a spreadsheet.

One way is to "print" the transaction detail report to Excel. This has two weaknesses. First, in very long reports, the credits sometimes creep into the debits column, making a mess. Second, even when everything works 'perfectly', there is a lot of reformatting and tidying up to do because the layout that works very well for a report that a human is going to read isn't a very nice format for a computer - there's so much stuff muddled up in each column.

The other way is to use the export transactions feature. Unfortunately, in Adagion 9.0D, this doesn't seem to work at all. I have tried a number of different combinations, including accounts blank to zzzz, departments blank to zzzz, all fiscal periods, and I keep getting the message "there are no transactions in that range".

I prefer to export the transaction details. Is there something I need to be doing to make it work again?

Hi C White,

Export Transactions in Adagio Ledger works correctly. Do you have any transactions to export for the fiscal year selected? Try using the View Transactions function to ensure that you in fact have details for the selected year and period(s) and account(s).

When I do a detailed report for 2012 period 1 to 1, all accounts and all departments, I get 63 pages of transactions. This carries on for the whole year so far - roughly 63 pages of transactions per month.

When I try to do a transaction export with the same settings, I get the message "there are no records to export in that range".

I feel like I'm missing something, but I have no idea what.

I have been using the transaction export fairly routinely for over a year now with minimal problems until now. The only problem I would have is if I tried to export just a portion of the G/L, I would get this same error message - for example if I wanted just one department. This was easy to work around - I'd export the whole works and then trim it in Excel. Now I can't seem to export any transactions at all, no matter what period I choose.

Please email me a copy of your data (File | Backup) and I'll take a look. That will be faster.

Somehow you have managed to create an account-department with a blank account number (the first account in your chart). This should not have been possible, so I would be interested to know how you managed to accomplish this.

Delete this account and your export will work properly. The export is not happy with this blank account number.
