Hi All,

Just have an issue with a client of ours running the latest version of GL9.0B.

Ever since we have converted them to 9.0B, when they run the Batch listing report, a line of gibberish appears at the tops of the pages of that specific report. This only seems to be the case on this particular report.

This issue is also constant if they "preview" the report before printing.

I have tested their data at our location and can print all reports without problem.

Any ideas as to the cause of the issue??

Thanks,

Darcy Chretien

Hi, Darcy,

You're saying both the Preview and the Print are working except that the first line has gibberish. The rest of the report is intact, yes?

Also, did the problem occur with GL9.0B(090430) or did you go straight to (090713)?

Have you checked to see if they have a ModRP folder in their Softrak\Ledger folder? If so, does it contain a Albatchd_v2.rpt or Albatch_v2.rpt file? If not, each of these files in the StandardRP folder should be dated 1/14/2008. As you can see, we haven't changed the report in a while.

Do they use MultiCurrency?

Have they tried printing the batch listing to another printer with the same results? And, do they get the same results if printing from other workstations?

What happens if they try printing the batch listing using sample data? The same thing or does it print okay?

Are you saying the problem does not occur when they print other reports, say a Detail Listing, Trial Balance and a Company Profile?

A lot of questions but the answers to each of them can better help us to determine what may be the issue.

Hi Softrak,

I have some more information regarding the above issue. We converted them to (090430) then in turn to (090713).

The preview function works for the reports in question. It is only when the reports are printed, that the error occurs. What comes out, is actually just one line of gibberish on the top of each page, the report is not intact.

That being said, they are able to successfully print the reports to excel.

I tested the sample data, with the same results as their data.

There is no ModRP folder, but in the StandardRP folder, the files are dated 1/14/2008.

They do not use multicurrency.

When trying to print the Trial Balance, or Company profile etc. the same thing comes out of the printer as with the batch listing.

They are going to let me know the results of the test with an alternative printer. No word as of yet.

If you can think of anything, please do let me know.

Thanks!

Hi, Darcy,

Please check what the results are if they print to another printer. As well, determine if print/preview from other workstations produces the gibberish or finished report as expected.

Also, please confirm if printing is okay from other Adagio modules.

It's possible you may need to search for a new printer driver or, if the problem is with one w/s only, ensure it is using exactly the same printer driver as is on the w/s's that print okay.

On occasion, I've had reports from dealers that after they delete the printer and recreate it the problem goes away. Presumably, something had become corrupt in the printer definition.

Hi Softrak,

I should mentioned before; this site only has 1 workstation, so nothing to compare to.

I tested printing from other modules this morning, everything prints ok.

Just wanted to let you know.

Thanks,

Are they printing to the default printer or a specific printer (File | Options)?

Hi Andrew,

I got them to check, and they are printing to their default printer.

Ok, And they're printing to their default printer in Receivables?

What specific make and model of printer is it, and what is the version number of the printer driver they are using?

If they print a company profile report in each module, is it only the Ledger one that (over) prints at the top of the report? (This sounds like a printer initialization string that the printer is not interpreting properly. Are the first characters always the same?)
