If you are running Ledger V9.0, then just open your new year and move the batch (assuming it contains next year's transactions). If you are running an earlier version then archive the batch (assuming it has transactions that you will eventually want to. Post into your ledger).

Hi Andrew my wife is using 8.1 I am trying to desperately find the emails from softrack with our 9.0 updates, chuckles. Trying to figure out how to archive it, we want it deleted, it contains nothing anymore she needs. Thanks for helping me I am an I.T. guy not accounting, I can almost talk the talk here.

Hi, Robert,

If you really want to delete the batch, open the Edit Batches window (press the Batch button in the toolbar), click on the batch you want to delete to highlight it, click on the Delete button which is in the list of buttons on the right side of the Edit Batches window (5th button down). When you are prompted, 'Do you want to delete batch #?', click the 'Yes' button.

Hope this helps,

Hi again, Robert,

Just as a 'safety' in case you change your mind later about having deleted the batch, if you want, highlight the batch in the Edit Batch window (before deleting) and click the Listing button on the right side of the window. This will print a listing of the entries contained in the batch which could be useful if later your wife decides she wants to 'recreate' the batch.

OK Andrew I completely understand what you are instructing me to do BUTwhenever i try to do a simple delete from the edit function, I get this message, "entry 1 was retrieved and cannot be deleted". When I try to delete it from the edit batches screen I get this message, "batch 63 was retrieved and cannot be deleted".
I do not 100% need this batch, I do wish to remove it before I do her year end. I hope this helps. I have my GL 9.0 files and will upgrade it to most recent once I have my error fixed, If I need to upgrade to remove this batch I could do that too. I just don't want to complicate this mess further.

Thanks, Rob

Hi, Robert,

Look in the Company Profile (click the Profile button in the toolbar). On the Options tab, ensure that the 'Edit retrieved entries' option is set to 'All fields'. It's probably set to No editing permitted which is why you are unable to delete the batch.

Thank you everyone feel so silly. Yes I did not have edit rights. Doh! OK I am good to go, thanks a million. Issue is closed.
