With the latest Ledger 9.0 update we have encountered the following anomaly.

In "Edit Budget Data" whenever an amount is entered that amount appears in all other accounts in the "Edit Budget Data" screen. Let me explain further. If I enter the amount $12,000 for account 8000-100, if I then go to account 8100-100 that $12,000 shows in the screen even though I have not edited the budget for account 8100-100. All other accounts show $12,000 in the budget.

This anomaly is only what appears in the screen for that account however. It does not actually affect the budget data. If you print a budget variance report the correct budget amounts show.

It is difficult to know what budgets to edit if the amounts that are showing do not accurately reflect the current budget amount for that account.

Hi Lyndon,

Have you checked to make sure that the "inquiry account" is the same as the account you are editing? There are two independent accounts being accessed in the budget entry screen, to allow you to easily copy budgets or balances between a series of accounts.

Hi Lyndon,

What options do you have selected at the top of the Edit Budgets screen? If you have 'Auto Advance on OK?' selected and when saving a budget you wish the grid to advance with it, you also need to select 'Auto Advance inquiry account'.

The reason for the 'Auto Advance Inquiry account' is that you might wish to update budgets for one account based on amounts (actual/budget/forecast) from a different account.

The amounts that appear on the right side (under the 'Target Acct. Budget' heading) will be what budget amounts will be saved to the account in the window title if you click OK.

I now see the problem. It is not the selections but rather the column selections. If I add the 2008 budgets in the column editor, then the information that I am looking for appears. The right-hand column remembers the last amount that was entered for the previous budget and we were misinterpreting what it meant.
