How do I put a section of inventory on sale at a discount?
I know how & where to assign a special sale price. What I would like to do is take a catagory or item segment & assign a sale discount % for a set time. I realize I can import & export to achieve this but I am looking for a global way to do this.
As a suggestion I would prefer to see the additional option added to profile to not allow a sale below cost. I know there is a warning now.

Sorry, but currently there is no automatic way to place a "section" of your inventory on sale for a specific period of time. You'll have to set up special prices for all items individually. It's a good suggestion though, and I've recorded it.

Same for the selling of items below cost.

I lied.

If you select Edit | Item Maintenance | Update Price List you can place a range of items (by category, report group, vendor, or item segment) on sale as a percentage or flat amount reduction from Base Price for a range of dates.
