Hello,
I have installed quik invoice for windows on a win2k server. The full path to the install is w:\softrak\qiwin\
Where w is a shared drive.
The accpac program is installed on x:
The accpac data is installed on y: (in sub dirs)

I can run qiwin from the server and see all data ok.
When I try to install a workstation install, I get the following error.

The workstation w:\softrak\qiwin\wksetup points to an ACCPAC Program drive [x:] that does not have the Quik Invoice Plus for Windows Tables installed.
Please check that you have selected the proper directory and if necessary re-install Quik Invoice Plus for windows again.

Re-installing does not fix this error.

Hello Doug,

Just to make sure...

Are we really talking about Quik Invoice for Windows? or Adagio Invoices. Quik Invoice for Windows has been discontinued for some time now...

Dear Doug

When QIWIN and/or Adagio is installed, it creates a separate directory that contains the tables necessary to print reports. This folder will be created on the same drive that you installed QIWIN to, unless you told it otherwise during the original program install process.

The 'ACCPAC program drive' it is referring to is the drive where the necessary 'report tables' for QIWIN were installed. The report tables drive is what it needs. If you did not designate the report tables drive (ACCPAC drive) as the same drive where you installed QIWIN (w:\), then this could be the problem. Try the wksetup again, and this time, point to w for the ACCPAC drive.

Most often, QIWIN is installed on the same drive that ACCPAC programs reside, so the error would not occur in these cases.

As an aside, QIWIN has not been tested on newer Windows' versions as most of these O/S's were not around when QIWIN was shipping. There could be other issues surrounding it's use on these newer environments that we are not aware of. Unfortunately, we cannot fully support it's use in these newer environments as we can with Adagio.

Regards

Hi.

Andrew,
Yes, we are talking about quik invoice plus for windows. Shocking eh? It's not my decision, however, it is mine to make work.

Softrack tech support,
It tried what you suggested, changing the workstation set up ini (WI-NET.INI) where I assume it pulls it's information for setup.

It looked like the following at first.

[Storage]
QIWINDir=W:\SOFTRAK\QIWIN
TableDir=W:\SOFTRAK\TABLES
ACCPACDrive=x:

I chjanged the last line to point to the w: drive as I think you suggested. Same error only says w drive now.

The x drive is where the accpac program is located. I recently moved the data off a users local machine onto the server.
I uninstalled the QIWin before I moved it, and reinstalled it on the server (using w & x drives as this is how the user will see it).

What files are written to the x (Accpac) drive? I'm wondering if the files were there from the first install pointing to the old machine's directory, and if I can remove them and then reinstall QIWin.

Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug

Well, I did not suggest editing the WI-NET.INI (we never would suggest that). I was simply explaining what QIWIN is expecting to see, re-doing the wksetup the way it is supposed to be done would normally resolve the situation, as then you would be prompted for the 'ACCPAC' drive.

There is a file that is installed/updated on the local drive of the station. There should be a crw.ini file located in the local C:\Windows directory. This contains pathing information as to the 'ACCPAC' path. The first couple of lines should look like this:

[ACCPAC.DLLInfo]
ACCPACPath=C:\

If this path is not correct, you can edit this file and point to the correct drive, then save the file again.

If this still does not work, then I would suggest either trying to install QIWIN on the same physical drive as where ACCPAC is installed (to keep things organized), or check your mapping. If this is a Peer to Peer setup, things can get messy. You should use the UNC to implement pathing on all stations other than the 'server'.

To answer your other question, if you installed QIWIN to drive w, then no files are written to x - unless you designated this drive as the ACCPAC drive (or report tables drive), then it will create a QRASP folder there, where it will install the necessary tables to print from QIWIN, as was indicated in our previous post.

Good luck!

P.S. Looked in your file - you are using a version from 1997!!! Good luck indeed!

HI STS,
Sorry. I did understand what you meant about reinstalling. I had already done it twice, as my first try fix. During which I did select the x drive. Same problem.

I actually moved the installation of QIWin to the same drive as accpac last night. Same results.

We are using a proper server, which handles the mapping through a login script (vbs).

You reference crw.ini in the windows directory and the QRASP directory on the accpac program drive. I had assumed these were part of Quik Reports, does Quik Invoice use these as well?

And if I have not already said it, Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Doug

Yes, QIW uses these as well. They will all share these files for their information on pathing.

There should only ever be 1 QRASP folder. In a network environment, this should only be on the Server.

You're welcome for the help. If you continue to have problems, you should contact your Dealer, as they have much experience in this area and could come to your office directly, whereas we cannot.

Take care
