We recently updated our modules with the latest versions of Adagio and now a message pops up that we are required to enter a salesperson, each time we make a change to a customer profile. The help menu states that we do not have to enter a salesperson if the "field verification" in File/Options is turned off. ours is turned off. How do we get around this as we do not use Sales people and we need to change information today? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Tracy,

This was a change we made to the first release of Receivables 8.1A to prevent a problem in OrderEntry, but it turned out there was a better way. We've done a hot fix for Receivables 8.1A that wil correct this - contact your Adagio consultant to get a hold of the update, or if that option isn't available, email support(at)softrak.com.

There is more information about this on the forum here

Too bad that Softrak couldn't let us all know about this hot fix sooner. The response I got back on July 19th was that I had to go into every single account I had and update the salesperson. Wasn't that just a waste of a few precious hours of my time.

Hello Sonia,

Who told you to update every client? If you check the dates on the posts before yours, the hot fix was available before the 19th - and the question about the message was answered within minutes.

There is also a very fast way to do this kind of update in Adagio - one that we cover in every training session.

  • Open SmartFinder and select the customer number and field you need to change (in this case the salesperson).
  • Select the records you need (in this case where salesperson is equal to blank)
  • Send the resulting list to Excel
  • In Excel change the data and save the sheet.
  • Backup your Adagio data (using File | Backup)
  • Import the Excel spreadsheet (using File | Import) selecting the worksheet you just saved, a header row, overwrite only and just fields on the sheet (in this case customer and salesperson).
  • Check everything imported properly.

Done.

You probably didn't want to know this now though.

Sorry. Hopefully this technique might be useful another time.
