#9725 - 08/21/07 12:35 PM What would cause Adagio to run slow?

We have 5 users in our department and have ruled out that perhaps if more than one user are in Adagio that it would cause it to be slow because there are times when only 1 person is using Adagio and it is still slow for her.

We're all using Adagio 8.0. Adagio is installed on a network.

I seldom have any problems with mine, occasionally I do. I'm running Windows XP.

I haven't checked what others are running, other than another computer who is still running Windows 2000. On this one, it's religiously slow every day. Posting a batch would mean over 5 minutes, not exaggerating...I've watched the posting process bar slowly chug along.

So I'm wondering if Adagio reacts differently depending what version of Windows you are running and if anyone could offer a solution or recommendations to this.

It's been a year since the install and no one at work has any suggestion other than saying that Adagio data is different from Accpac and it's slow because Adagio is skewing through different data fields. I'd hate for that to be true because I haven't seen complaints here on the forum about it running slow and on my computer it runs faster than others.

Thanks all for your help!

Hi, Wendy,

Performance, especially on a network, can be impacted by so many things and can vary from one site to another. For example, the type of network you are using could impact performance -- if you are running peer-to-peer or are on a client/server network.

You indicate that speed is not normally a problem on your PC and that users in your office are not necessarily all running the same operating system. Do the PCs have different amounts of RAM installed? How much does yours have? Are they using different kinds of NICS (network interface cards)? Are they all running the same Adagio and other applications and do they have the same programs open at the same time?

You can also look at the type of virus checker software being used. If updates are being done mid-day, this could affect performance.

These are just a few suggestions.

You may find you want to discuss this further with your network tech or Adagio consultant, both of whom might be more familiar with your organization's particular hardware and software environment.
