My inventory module was working well untill recently. Whenever I assign an item to a report group the following messeges pop up:

" error 1011 occurred when attempting to create new I/C Temp Account". when I click ok it tells me " unable to open data file I/C temp account (1213)

Help please

Hello Fritz,

What version of Inventory (see Help | About)? What does \softrak\chksys.exe report? What might have changed at your installation recently?

My inventory version is 8.0B(061102). There two users using the module simultaneously when the problem occured.

Hi Fritz,

Does the same problem occur when editing a Report Group record? If so, then the problem is a corrupted Report Group data file.

Are you aware what the other user was doing at the time of the error, when editing an item to change the value in the Report Group field? This is only important if editing the Report Group values (as above) works as expected.

One you click "ok" of the edit item file the error message pops up regardless whether items were edited or not.

Hello Fritz,

Does Inventory pass its data integrity check? Does \SOFTRAK\SYSTEM\CHKSYS.EXE report any errors?

Hi Guys,

Fritz asked me to have a look at this problem and here's what I can add to the analysis thus far:

>>> Please note that my testing was done remotely on their live data as well as on a copy of their data in a stand-alone (WinXP Pro SP2) environment at my office. IC 8.0B (061102). No ChkSys problems/errors at their site nor my office. Aside from ChkSys I also tested for Read/Write Access and found no Problems at Fritz.

<1> The error messages are still as initially reported by Fritz
<2> In addition to the above, immediately after the 1213, one gets "Attempting to perform operation on unopened I/C Temp Account file". On pressing [OK] the error repeats twice more before the user is returned to the Item Maintenance window.
<3> It doesn't matter what you do in the Edit Item window. Even if all you do is open the window and immediately press [OK] the above errors are received.
<4> Even with the errors, the item record appears to update OK.
<5> If I create a new item the same errors occur
<6> All elements pass the DIC OK except Receipts in the Application Integrity Phase - numerous "Receipt XXXXXX has non-existing item X-XXXXXXXX" type errors are reported.
<7> No problem with the sample data at BAMPH nor Fritz
<8> Created new "dummy" I/C data set at Fritz and received the Temp Account related errors once on creating first item. Never saw the error again though I edited the first item several times as well as created several other items and edited them as well. Quite worrying to have seen the error that first time though.
<9> Their live data continues to have the errors.

Hi Peter,

As the problem is duplicatable with a copy of their data at your office, and sample data is clean, then I suspect that the problem is particular within the data.

When an item is created or edited, a number of other data files need to be loaded, including the Control Account Set file (otherwise known as the IC Acct file). Editing an item needs to create the account set list in a drop-down field. Perhaps there is a problem with this file? Or a temporary file related to the Control Account Sets?

If you have more than one Account Set, does the item editing errors occur in all items or perhaps just those that belong to a particular Account Set?

One possibility may be the existance of a data file ICACTT'I.DAT, which you could try renaming. A second Adagio Inventory user recently reported a similar issue and the above did not happen to help for them.

Hi Softrak Support,

O me of little faith - Even though I went about it without much hope, I found and decided to try renaming the file first... and bingo !!! all appears to now be well.

I don't know whether to rejoice or cry - another 2 second solution to hours of troubleshooting :-)

I assume that we can now just remove that file altogether ?

Thanks for the wonderful wisdom/solution. I'll give Fritz a call on Monday and try it at them.
