O me of little faith - Even though I went about it without much hope, I found and decided to try renaming the file first... and bingo !!! all appears to now be well.
I don't know whether to rejoice or cry - another 2 second solution to hours of troubleshooting :-)
I assume that we can now just remove that file altogether ?
Thanks for the wonderful wisdom/solution. I'll give Fritz a call on Monday and try it at them.
