QUIK HISTORY 6.5A (000702)

After installing the ACCPAC Plus Canadian Payroll tax update for January 2001 you must re-install Quik History

The following information supercedes any other information you may have received regarding Quik History and the Canadian Payroll update.

In June, ACCPAC International supplied the July 2000 payroll tax update for Canadian Payroll 6.0. This was the last payroll tax update for 6.0. All users must now be running Canadian Payroll 6.5A in order to use the January 2001 tax update. Note: Canadian Payroll 6.5A requires you to be running Windowing System Manager 7.0A.

A new version (or upgrade) of Quik History (QH) is NOT required for the 6.5A Canadian Payroll (PR) January 2001 payroll tax update **IF YOU HAVE QH6.5A 000702 INSTALLED**. However, you may need to re-install QH. Refer to 1 or 2 below, depending on your situation.

1. You are already running PR 6.5A and are installing the January 2001 payroll tax update

- You do not need to reinstall QH (unless you reinstalled PR 6.5A as well).
- If you have already processed a payroll run in 2001 there will be no problem. Data will have been correctly captured for QH. To verify, go into 3. Housekeeping and 5. View log file. You will see the date and time of the payroll runs that have been captured.

2. You are running PR 6.0U and upgrading to PR 6.5A, including installing the January 2001 payroll tax update

- You MUST re-install QH 6.5A (000525) or newer version before processing your first payroll in 2001, otherwise data for QH will be lost.

2a. If you have not already processed a payroll run in 2001, re-install QH and transactions will be correctly captured for QH.

2b. If you did not reinstall QH before processing your first payroll in 2001, QH transactions will have been lost. However, if you made a backup of your payroll data prior to doing the run, you will be able to use the backup to generate the missing transactions for QH. See instructions below.

If you have processed payroll before re-installing Quik History:

1. Make a backup of your current payroll data.

2. Restore the payroll data for which QH transactions are missing.

3. Re-do the payroll run.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for other payroll runs if necessary.

5. Delete the payroll data files.

6. Restore the payroll data to the current level.

A backup is suggested for your first payroll run:

Regardless of your situation, we recommend making a backup of your payroll data for your first payroll run of 2001. Make a backup of the payroll data after printing the cheques and just prior to printing the Cheque Register. After making the backup, proceed with the payroll run as you normally do.

After processing your first payroll, confirm that the payroll transactions were captured in QH. In the event there is any problem, the backup can be restored and used to generate the missing QH transactions. Restore the payroll data, then print and clear the Cheque Register report to transfer the checks to Quik History. Restore the payroll data to the current level.
