I have been trying to set up Softfax on our server. I am using an
external USRobotics Sportster Faxmodem x2. I tried to fax a
statement out of Adagio Receivables. I sent the fax to our own fax machine (on a seperate line). The lights came on like the Modem is faxing but it does not fax. I pick up the phone that I hooked up to the Modem to see if it was dialing out and It was not. I did all this from our server.

We would really like to fax all of our statements instead of printing them.

Any suggestions, or advice is welcome.

Thanks for your help,
Nick

Hello Nick,

Does the modem need to dial "9" to get an outside line? Do you need 10-digit dialing, and if so, have the long distance rules been set up? Can you monitor (listen to) the phone line to see if the modem is correctly picking up the line? (There is often a modem initialization string that will turn on the external speaker so that you can "listen in" to the call.)

I think that in the "[Fax]" section of "xxwin.ini", if you add the line "Test=999 999-999" into the section, the modem will always dial that number instead of the one on the customer record. this allows an easy way of testing the fax transmission with real customer statements.
