Invalid item on line 3 of receipt A1783 must be corrected manually.

Instead of application errors to ignore, is there a solution to get rid of these errors? We have hundreds of inactive item deleted in IC.

Hi Fong,

If an item code exists on a receipt (or in transaction history, or other places) and the item is deleted, this will result in Data Integrity errors. Is this the scenario you are running into? If so, then you have to either add the item code back or delete the receipt to solve the DIC error.

There are 2 solutions:
1) Do not delete items that are still referenced in other places, such as (but not limited to) I/C Receipts and Transaction History, O/E Current and Historical Orders and Invoices, Adagio Invoices Batches or Historical Invoices, and SalesAnalysis Transactions. Instead, mark the item as Inactive and edit the Description to something like "Do not use".
2) Delete/purge all documents and transactions that reference this item. This is likely far less of an attractive solution as 1).

The errors have been reported because deleting old items in Inventory still have history in Order Entry orders. I suggest you use the Inventory Item Number Changer to combine similar old items to reduce the file size and extraneous item numbers yet maintain history. DataCare will recognize those items having been changed and not report an error.

Hi Maxine,

Just to clarify - Adagio OrderEntry does not complain about item numbers in history that are no longer found. It only checks in the active order files. Another good reason to purge your completed orders from the current order file fairly frequently.

Your advice to use the Item Number changer is well taken though.
