In the receivable program everthing seems like its working but as soon as I hit F6 the computer freezes and it happens on every work station. I did a data ingreity check and it found no errors. Any suggestions?

How much memory is available? Is the computer really "frozen" or just very slow because the data volume is large compared to the memory?

Does the SmartFinder come up at all (empty) or does it appear to freeze after you have started a search? Try clearing your Windows\Temp directories.

No the smartfinder does not even come up. The acct# box is up and then you hit f6 the program freezes then turns white and the end now windows screen comes up.

Is this happening on every Finder field, or just a specific field on a form? Have you cleared your Windows\temp subdirectory?

Hi Kevin,

When everyone is out of Adagio, use Windows Explorer to look at the data directory. SmartFinder files are saved in Adagio Receivables with a CRF prefix and should be deleted when the application is closed. If you see these files hanging around when no-one is in Adagio, then they were not cleared correctly. Try moving them to a different directory, or deleting them.

Oh, and if you use ALL CAPITALS on a web posting, it means you are shouting mad.

Sorry for the yelling caps.

Where can I find these crf files I looked and I can't find them. Is there a special file or spot that they are hidden in? Having a file hanging around that will freeze me up before i even start the search option. It freezes when I go from the account # screen and then hit F6 that big search box barely comes up thats when it freezes.

Hello Kevin,

When you know that everyone is out of Receivables, delete the files CRFnnn'I/CRFnnn'R with your data selector (nnn is a three digit number).

See if that fixes the problem.

Also is there a recycle bin that I can look at to make sure no other files were deleted by mistake.

Hi Kevin,

If you are referring to Adagio Invoices for your 'invoices program', then all these data files have a prefix of 'QI' in the data directory. If you are getting a 'data doesn't exist' message, then specifically the data file 'QIGLOB' is not there, though there could be others missing too.

If there are any data files starting with 'QI' and a file extension the same as your accounting data, these have been deleted by mistake and you should restore them back (from the recycle bin).

Let us know what you find.

Hi Kevin,

If you deleted files and they no longer appear anywhere (like a recycle bin), then your step is to restore data from a backup. I suppose only the QI data files are necessary, not AR or GL. Hopefully you have a relatively recent backup.

Before going there, do a search for the file QIGLOB.* across your network - perhaps you will find this data in a location you weren't expecting it.

Hi Kevin,

Just thought I'd mention that the windows Recycle Bin only usually works with files deleted from the Local Hard Drive (and specifically via the local Drive letter assigned to that drive usually C). Files deleted from Network Drives or even Drive letters mapped or substituted back to the local drive C are not usually placed in the recycle bin. Unfortunately it would seem that a restore from a backup is going to be your only option.

Good Luck !!! Our thoughts are with you...

Unfortunately, when you delete files on a network, they do not go into the Recycle Bin . Only files deleted on the local workstation are sent to the Recycle Bin.

When wanting delete data files, I normally rename the extension so the program doesn't 'see' them, or move them to a folder, i.e. 'deleted data'. Deleting files on a network drive is PERMANENT.
