Also is there a recycle bin that I can look at to make sure no other files were deleted by mistake.

Hi Kevin,

If you are referring to Adagio Invoices for your 'invoices program', then all these data files have a prefix of 'QI' in the data directory. If you are getting a 'data doesn't exist' message, then specifically the data file 'QIGLOB' is not there, though there could be others missing too.

If there are any data files starting with 'QI' and a file extension the same as your accounting data, these have been deleted by mistake and you should restore them back (from the recycle bin).

Let us know what you find.

Hi Kevin,

If you deleted files and they no longer appear anywhere (like a recycle bin), then your step is to restore data from a backup. I suppose only the QI data files are necessary, not AR or GL. Hopefully you have a relatively recent backup.

Before going there, do a search for the file QIGLOB.* across your network - perhaps you will find this data in a location you weren't expecting it.

Hi Kevin,

Just thought I'd mention that the windows Recycle Bin only usually works with files deleted from the Local Hard Drive (and specifically via the local Drive letter assigned to that drive usually C). Files deleted from Network Drives or even Drive letters mapped or substituted back to the local drive C are not usually placed in the recycle bin. Unfortunately it would seem that a restore from a backup is going to be your only option.

Good Luck !!! Our thoughts are with you...

Peter

Unfortunately, when you delete files on a network, they do not go into the Recycle Bin . Only files deleted on the local workstation are sent to the Recycle Bin.

When wanting delete data files, I normally rename the extension so the program doesn't 'see' them, or move them to a folder, i.e. 'deleted data'. Deleting files on a network drive is PERMANENT.
