A client recently started using departments in one of their companies. Since then, they cannot print a Trial Balance report. It won't preview, or print, and doesn't give any error messages.

When Departments are enabled in the Company Profile, on the Print Trial Balance screen, they should be able to choose to sort by Account or Department. They can't - it is set at Account and will not let them select any differently.

DIC was clean. The trial balance prints in their other companies which don't have departments.

If my first sort by = 'Accounts' then the second sort by must be 'Departments' and cannot be changed, so it is greyed out. I don't think this is your problem.

Check to make sure both the Account and Department Starting range = <blank> and Ending range = <zzzzzz>. I'll bet one of them ends in <blank>.

In the Company Profile there is an option to Remember report settings.

If this is on, try turning it off and then try the report.
Once the report prints properly, you can turn it on again.
