Dear Team,

I am trying to do Email Setup an account with Mail Server =SMTP.Office365.com

Receiving the error message:


The IT department says they tested the email and it is working..

Any ideas as to why I may be getting this message.

When I use gmail no problem,

Can you ping smtp.office365.com from the same workstation?

I'd be tempted to believe the error message; the ping test will confirm if it fails. Maybe the DNS server or something else local is blocking it.

Without a relay server, I try to avoid directly connecting in cases where the message recipients will be beyond the client's domain.

Both google and microsoft discourage this connection type (as adagio doesn't support Oauth):

I can ping both smtp.Office365.com and smtp.gmail.com

I use the latter (Gmail) as my own tested email to ensure things should work..

This is where it get interesting as my GMAIL works on my test server, but it works (intermittently) at the client site...to send a test email.
So, when the GMAIL works it says transfer successful, when it does not the system "Close Out Gracefully"

But the Office365 email Setup configuration in AP - Test Email "time out error"

So I know something is happening in the background to cause Gmail (instability) and 365 (Timeout message)

Challenge is that client wants to email payment advice to vendors who they pay via Bank Transfer..

Why not use the outlook send integration?

I never used that feature before, but as this is being run SERVER side, I would not put same on the table..
