Hi, Lorraine
The 000201 ptf will not change data that was previously imported using the older release (980818) of QIP6.5A, however, it will fix the dates imported on any QIP batches that you have posted and imported into IC Shipments since installing the ptf.
To further clarify what the QIP 000201 readme suggests (to edit the ICSBATCH file):
Using MS Explorer, (or from the DOS prompt):
1. Find the ICSBATCH.xxx file in your data directory (the ".xxx" represents YOUR company's data file extension, which could be .dat, or initials for your company).
2. IF USING MS EXPLORER, you will double-click on this file to open it, then select an application to edit the file with. The search & replace option works best in either MS Word or Excel.
2b. At this point, you would do a "search" for the string of (for example) **01, and "replace" it with (eg) 0001, where ** represents the year 2000 (as 00), which did not import correctly, and 01 represents the month(s). You may have several months that display (starting with Jan) **01, **02 (Feb), **03 (Mar) and so forth. For Feb, for example you would search for **02 and replace it with 0002, for Mar search for **03 & replace it with 0003.
2c. Once you have replaced all the necessary strings, you should save the changes, then close the file.
3. IF USING MS DOS PROMPT, you would change to the data directory, then at the new data directories' prompt, type in: edit icsbatch.xxx (again, you would replace the .xxx with your actual data extension). The DOS file editor will pop up. Here, you would select the Search option, then select Replace and enter the apporpriate information into the fields presented.
If you are not comfortable with file manipulation, then you should either contact your Dealer, or ask someone in your office that is familiar with these terms to perform these procedures.
If you mean that you cannot import shipments at all, then this is a different issue entirely. The correct procedure for importing shipments into IC is detailed in your IC Manual.
For QIP, as long as you have the "Link to Inventory Control" option set to "Y" in QIP's Company Profile that is all that is required.
More information on the IC Interface can be found in your QIP manual, Appendix H.
I hope this is helpful.
