As per the subject client has a new server and when attempting to install Adagio on the new server it is as slow as molasses.

I have had their IT guys turn off anti virus and I assume it is not a rights issues since the install starts. Problem to load Ledger for example it takes forever to install and it still hasn't finished.

Is there some other settings or switches to tip off their IT guys to speed this up?

Thanks in advance.

Often just turning off the AV isn't enough, you need to uninstall it.

You have Antivirus running on the workstation in a server environment? Your AV should be server based.

We saw a similar speed issue situation recently where we installed replacement (same versions of Adagio) on a new server on the same client network. While the old server was still on the network, the speed was better on the new server than running on the old server. When the old server was turned off, speed was awful.

We flushed out all of the AV issues and the issue was not AV.

We were able to isolate and found that turning the old server back on, restored the speed of Adagio. We think this means that when we installed Adagio on the new server, there is some reference somewhere that is still pointing to the original (old) server, and as such we believe there was a pathing issue somewhere within Adagio that gets carried over to the new server if the old server is still alive. The pathing resolution issue (to the old server) eventually times out and finds Adagio on the new server, but gives horrible processing speed for the newly installed Adagio.

We resolved by turning off the old server and re-installing the GL module over the existing GL module. The re-install corrected the issue and now we can run Adagio with good speed and the old server is turned off. We were hoping for some message to show to say that something was being updated or could not find the old server but no such luck, but it resolved our speed.

Best practices, mean copy the programs and data to be installed to the new server (across the network), and then turn off the old server before installing Adagio on the new server.

Best,
Brian

I expect that the old server was referenced in the users "Path=" command and was thus being searched unexpectedly.

Thanks for the posts. It ended up being NIC settings between the workstation and the server.

All good now.

Thanks for the update Scott.

Do you know what settings were changed, for the benefit of others reading this now or for the future?
