I haven't mentioned this before since it appears to be really hit and miss. Designed an Order Entry Invoice specification and every now and then when adjusting/tweeking any area on the spec other than the footer the footer goes black (can not see the totals) as shown in the attached file. This is to preview and when the resulting invoice is printed.

We are using OE V9.3A (201201).

Just curious if anyone has run into this and if so what the cause is.

The times I have see these black rectangles printing on forms is because some BMP image is part of the spec, and the printer had low memory at the time of printing. Thus the actual BMP image didn't not print successfully on the form.

The standard litmus test for printing:

Can you successfully print to preview?

No, then he problem is somewhere in Adagio.

Yes, then the problem is somewhere in the printer.

To respond to you first Support in this instance (or has always been the case and again it is hit and miss) the bmp image is in the Page header portion of the spec. So that would suggest to me the issue is the printer since the latest testing the image printed fine but the footer was blacked out.

To respond to you Doug yes and no in both counts. The spec was "completed" yesterday and all was good on my testing. Prtinting to screen and printer were not an issue. I decided to tweek one of the detail fields for alignment and re saved the specification. I then printed to test my alignment and this issue happened. So not sure to if it is Adagio or the printer.

So to follow up on Doug's question (forgot to mention in the previous post) when the footer went black this was to both Preview and Printer. FYI.

Support FYI I was able to replicate the blacking out of the footer in the office. I am on a standalone laptop using the same Order Entry Version.

All I did was mess around with fields in the header and detail section of the specification and save and printed to "Preview" and the footer was all blacked out.

So I am thinking this is an Adagio issue not a print issue.

Only issue is why this would happen.

Spec is in landscape FWIW.

If you can replicate a black box while previewing the form in your office - so thus a different printer - can you email that spec form to tech support for investigation? Maybe something is wrong with the spec file/layout that would get fixed with a correction to the spec.

I replied to you privately as well.

Using your spec, the black box appears for me in the footer only when previewing from the designer program. But previewing or printing invoices in the data for real is working successfully for me. Since I am remoting into my workstation, I wonder what Windows 10 is doing with the driver settings through the RDC.

This isn't ideal and I have let R&D know, but perhaps try previewing your form in the OE program on a posted invoice to see whether this is OK. Maybe as you complete the form design, you could be previewing against real invoices rather than within the designer.

From last night and the off-line communication we had, posted here for the benefit of others.

In the spec you provided, there was a horizontal line with width 0 hiding underneath the Last Page Footer grey bar. This was only located when the grey bar was moved up without the objects and then 'Select All In' to select all object and see the invisible object.

Removing this line and putting the grey bar back into position seems to have fixed the issue on our end. We await good news from your side.
