Can the Adagio database be stored on One Drive instead of our Network, with multiple people accessing it as the live database? (I see that there are various character restrictions, including the # sign.)

Thanks

No! No! No!

One Drive and Dropbox and other Cloud storage methods are use to store non-volatile (unchanging) files. They updates in the Cloud occur in the background, as your workstation is idle. Adagio relies on file changes being applied immediately they are made (so they are available to other workstations). And by "immediately", I mean before ANYTHING else happens.

You could put backups on OneDrive / Dropbox / Google Drive. Not live data.

Yes. Backups are not supposed to change after they are made. The Cloud is a good place to store them and an easy way to create an offsite copy.

As a follow up to my question above - I was able to successfully access Adagio on One Drive, all files are accessible, and the data integrity check shows no errors. I think this is therefore a question for our IT dept, setting up a OneDrive account accessible by multiple parties.

Thanks.

Okay thank you and oops, I posted my second comment without realizing there were already responses above. I very emphatically get the point - don't try accessing our live Adagio database on OneDrive.

Thanks

You will corrupt your database. It is not a question of how it is set up. It is a question of how One Drive synchronizes changes made on your local copy (which happen in real time) with the copy in the Cloud (which others are seeing). The Cloud copy (and the other users local copies) are updated in the background.

Ask your IT people if they would create a SQL database in a One Drive Folder and then have multiple people access it.

Thank you Andrew, and Christian. We won't be accessing our live Adagio database on One Drive.

If you have people who are only looking at the data (not doing any data entry), then you can have a copy of yesterday's data copied to your One Drive Folder and let them report or View information from that.

The One Drive data must be static and used for reporting only.
