Hi.
We ran the update to Adagio Payables on Friday. Prior to the update, I had no issues..
I was in the office using another program on the weekend, and could NOT run reports.
I was in contact with the admin on the other program, who indicated that the Crystal Reports version on my computer was a newer one. She remotely accessed my computer, found the file called "SAP Crystal Reports Runtime Engine", uninstalled it, and reinstalled a slightly older version. I was immediately able to access the required reports.
Unfortunately, when I just opened Adagio Ledger, it forced me to update due to the older Crystal Reports version, and when I did, the other program will no longer run.
What can I do?
Marc

Hi Marc,

Many programs use the Crystal Runtime system process to generate internal reports. Different developers use different versions based on their development schedule, and there are enough versions of the Crystal Runtime released frequently enough that they won't always be the same.

Adagio Payables 9.3B installs the Crystal Runtime SP25, which you can see if you look at the list of Windows installed applications. Adagio requires this version, not older versions. Though we would hope that SAP would allow these Crystal Runtime versions to be backwards compatible, there is no guarantee that this is the case. If you are having a problem running two applications that expect different versions of the Crystal Runtime, and SAP hasn't made the more current one backwards compatible, then indeed there will be problem attempting to use both programs on the same workstation, especially concurrently.

You'll probably need to discuss with your Adagio consultant the best route to take. It may involve having some sort of batch file run to uninstall the Crystal Runtime version X and install the other version Y, depending on the program you want to use. Or perhaps have a virtual workstation run one of the programs. Or perhaps two different workstations are necessary, one for each program. Or maybe something else.

Can we go back to the previous version of Adagio Payables?

Hi Marc,

That is something that should be discussed with your Adagio consultant. I can't advise you in this decision.

Marc:

SAP Crystal Report not including backwards compatibility is definitely becoming more and more of a problem. Unfortunately this is controlled by SAP not Adagio.

For years we've had a problem with other software using SAP Crystal Reports v25 while Adagio was still at v20. All we could do is advise our clients that they will have to run Adagio and the other software on separate computers.

SAP's expectation that all software developers and users will be able to upgrade concurrently with every new release of Crystal Reports is unrealistic but I have no idea how we could convince them otherwise.
