In Inventory Item Master, you can put an item "on sale" for a date range.

My client uses alternate price lists. When they enter an item on an order within the date range, the price is the sale price. This client has some items that are on sale at a HIGHER price during the date range, When they enter an item on an order for these items, the price is the alternate price list price. That's of course not what they want.

I know there is a setting in Company Profile that forces the system to always use the higher price for Special Prices. Can that setting be modified to force the system to use the higher price for Special Prices and Sale Prices?

Thanks

Steve

Almost anything is possible with software. Though that setting is targeted to read a different data file (special prices) than the master/alternate price list item file.

How many other dealers have clients who set Sale Prices higher than Base Prices and would want the higher Sale Price to be the default? To get a gauge on how widespread this feature request might be.

Should we also (optionally) abandon loading the lowest possible price if one of the 5 discount / markup prices is set by customer type or quantity ordered and this value is higher than the base price?

Honestly I’ve never seen a client use the Sale Price function before. Even this one doesn’t. They are only using it because the clerk is going to be on vacation on January 1 when a new price list goes into effect and they used the Sale Price function as a workaround.

Nonetheless I think it’s logical if it’s available for Special Prices.

If there were to be a change, it would be in OE, not IC, because the work is done there.

Since there is a 0% chance that a change for this update to functionality could be done by January 1 for this client's workaround, perhaps you can import Special Prices for them with the new pricing scheme, and use the functionality that is already in OE for always use special price? Do they use special prices already?

Hi Steve,
We see the current best customer pricing situation as currently in Adagio Inventory/order entry to be the norm in most of our distribution client sites.

We had a client that was requesting what you are asking about by offering a higher price on a flyer (sale) price and wanted it to override the clients preferred lowere pricing (alternate price list), and we questioned why they would request that scenario. It was obvious that they did not want the customer to get their preferred pricing and hoped that they would not notice, given the profile of the sales flyer.

We looked at the situation and decided not to pursue with Softrak. The client is no longer in business. Enough said. Softrak should not consider this change.

Brian
