Have a client on server setup. Set them up with Print Tool to run some reports. All of a sudden at one workstation (all other workstations are fine running Print Tool) they get the following:

"Access violation at address 0040A486 in module "PrintTool.exe". Write of address 0000003D".

All other Adagio modules are working correctly.

Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi John,

When was the last time that reports printed from the PrintTool utility worked on this workstation? Could other changes such as Windows updates or anti-virus software come into play for this particular workstation? How about the version of Windows - 7 or 10 or another? Is it all reports that cause this error or just particular reports? What about particular locations where the reports are saved, might this work if the reports were loaded from a different location such as the local C drive? Enough free memory?

Another test you could try is to make a copy of a RPT report file and save it in a CustomReports sub-directory of an Adagio program, such as \Softrak\Receivables\CustomReports. When Adagio 9.2 or later wakes up and sees a report in this directory, it will prompt to add this to a Custom Reports sub-menu from the Reports menu within Adagio. Maybe the report will print/preview successfully when run this was as compared to PrintTool.

Access violation errors can be quite generic in nature and not point to a specific cause. In the situation you described, it does appear something particular to the workstation environment.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the late response. It appears to be a "rights" issue. All other workstations on the network can run PrintTool without issue except her machine. If she logs in as "administrator" on her machine (the one in question) PrintTool successfully runs.

What is weird is that all other modules are fine on her machine (GL, AR, AP, IC, OE, PO). So must be some sort of log in issue under her name as it pertains to PrintTool. Only conclusion we can come to.
