Hi Everyone,
Currently our Sales team only has access to gridview to look at sales data, tracking information etc. The problem is the way gridview queries the adagio SA database takes about 10-20x longer than simply generating the report directly within Sales Analysis. ~ The main issue with giving them access to SA is they can build any report they want and see other salesmen data. In our company we are using 'Report Group' as the definition for our different salesmen. In the new update for 9.3A for SA would it be possible to implement a way to customize/restrict each users view for inquiries rather than a single page for everyone? Please let me know if this is something that can be done and let me know if I can clarify what i'm looking for. Thank you, Jason

Like Support, I'm surprised to hear that the GridView inquiry is taking that much longer than the equivalent SalesAnalysis Inquiry. If you would like to "File | Gather Files for Support" for your GridView example and upload it to https://portal.softrak.com/dbr to my attention, I'll take a look in some upcoming airport departure lounge and try and figure out why the View is taking do long to process.

Andrew, I have uploaded the GV file as you requested; the title should have your name in it. I also got some statistics for you when we refresh the data for these gridviews. When we refresh ANY data pulling from the S/R Transactions table it is querying 336,904 items currently. In the GV I have sent you, it is selecting 175,000 lines from the total which takes 3.5 minutes every time we refresh data. You can see why this is frustrating for our sales team in today's world of speed. ~ Let me know when you have had time to look at the data Thank you, Jason

Hi Jason,
We have sites using GridView on databases with over 3 million records, so it can be handled.
Certainly if 175,000 records are being selected for your inquiry, the time to load won't be instantaneous, but 3.5 minutes seems unexpectedly slow from my experience. The complexity of the GridView inquiry (number of columns, calculations, formatting, network speed, workstation memory etc) can affect the speed of processing.
GridView also ships a 64-bit version of the program, stored in the x64 sub-folder of the GVWin program directory. If you point that version of GridView against your inquiry, that could speed things up.

Hello Jason,
We're getting load times of 90 seconds with the 32-bit version of GridView and 60 seconds with the 64-bit version.
I think that someone needs to look at the network performance of that workstation.
Copy the data to their local drive and see how long it takes to load. The network shouldn't take more than 2x (or so) the local load time.

We are actually running Adagio as a terminal server and all files are located locally on the server. No network pathing at all. There usually is not an abnormal amount of people using the server at the same time and this is with a RAID 10 SSD Array with 40Gb of Ram & 12 CPU Cores. I will try the 64-bit version of gridview and see how it works. Thanks for the support again gentlemen. Edit: As an update, when running Gridview in 64-bit it lowers the time down to 2min as opposed to the 3.5min earlier. Definitely an approvement, but still odd how these are quite a bit more than what you are getting. One of the main issues with using workstation applications is that our salesmen are 100% work offsite. Along with the terminal server working quite quickly through 99% of all other operations of Adagio. ~ Is there any issue with switching everyone who was using the 32-bit version of Gridview, over to the 64-bit version? Thank you

Hi Jason,
Is your antivirus scanning your Adagio program and data folders? If it is that can slow it down. You will want to exclude your X:\Softrak folder and X:\Data folder (unless your data is underneath your Softrak folder) from AV scanning.

The Anti-Virus has those paths excluded like normal. ~ Is it normal that the 64-bit Gridviews do not allow editing definition, calculated columns etc? In fact the 64-bit gridviews aren't processing my calculated columns correctly. I'm assuming that it's not quite a replacement for the 32-bit version?
