It's great that we can now enter notes for an order. I see they get transferred to the invoice when the order is shipped.

But what I don't see are the notes once the order and invoice are copied over to "History" as part of Day End Processing. Of course they have to be there, so what am I missing? I hope they aren't deleted as part of the transfer.

I always advise my clients to keep a small range of orders/invoices in "Current" and to rely on "History" for lookup. Am I going to have to tell them to change that strategy and keep completed orders in "Current" forever so they can see the notes?

Hi Steve,

I wasn't able to replicate a problem. Notes on both orders and invoices (that I tested) were visible in the documents in history on the same Notes tab, after I run Day End.

The Notes are also visible for me even after I purge the completed transactions out of Current. When the History transaction is deleted, the notes are purged from the data files at the same time.

They can also be seen in the GridView tables O/E Transaction Notes (header and detail).

Is there a security setting that has to be enabled to see the Notes tab in History? I looked but couldn't find one.

No. But I see that if Header Optional Fields are not defined in OrderEntry, then only in History is the Notes/Optional Fields tab not visible. That is something we need to correct. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

So the Notes are in the data, but cannot currently be viewed in History when there are no Header Optional Fields.

Hello Steve,

This issue has been fixed on the OE 93A 180410 Service Pack. From the Readme:

The Order Notes tab was not visible in History if no Header Optional Fields are defined in OrderEntry.
