One of the retailers we deal with is implementing changes to their systems and we will be required to use their new 7 digit "ship to" codes.

Adagio only deals with 6 and I was wondering if there will ever be changes made to the field lengths. This may become more of an issue in future as other large retailers move over to SAP. For the time being we'll have to work around this problem.

Just food for thought when possible software changes are being looked at.

You can store their 7 digit codes in one of the contact information fields in your ship-to record.

I knew that, but it would be good if the "ship to" field actually matched our customer's "ship to" field. I've created a Gridview "Customer w/Ship to" report so hopefully I'll be able to add the contact field to the report (haven't checked into this yet). This way we can cross-reference our system's ship to codes with McKesson's.

I am running into a related issue with the item# field being limited to 16 digits. Some of the items I sell are modular, so the part number consists of multiple components each with their own 5-6 digit number with a total field length of 20+ digits. My current work around is to use a general description as the item number and the put the item number in the description. This doesn't work well for tracking inventory obviously so I'm hoping for a more permanent fix.
