Is it possible to assign different year-ends to different departments? Most of our programs are funded fiscally (April 1 – March 31) but we have one program with a funder that goes on calendar years.

Only one year-end is allowed per legal entity.

What you want is to create financial statements for that funder that cross the fiscal year. For instance, you would want periods 10 to 12 of fiscal 2017 and periods 1 to 9 of fiscal 2018. Your Adagio consultant can help you to create a statement like that.

Without disagreeing with Bruce, that the organization itself can only have one year end, you can run the Year end function whenever you wish, and as many times throughout the year as you wish. You can also run year end by department, and close the P&L accounts to a Retrained Earning account specifically for that department.

You should work with your Adagio Consultant to determine the best way to make this work for you. Certainly you'll want financial statements tailored for that specific entity.
