We operate a warehouse and gift store under the same roof. However, we keep them as separate locations in Adagio. Currently when something is needed for the gift store an order is made in Order Entry by the person who works in the gift store. Then that order is sent to the warehouse to be "filled" then the Inventory person makes a stock transfer from that order, finally the order is deleted out of Order Entry.

This system works, but it is not ideal. Any suggestions on how to improve this method? I wish inventory had some type of "Stock Transfer Order" that could be printed, then "filled", then posted. This would greatly increase traceability and decrease the margin for error.

Hi Nick Sciabica,

That's a good suggestion.

Hi Nick,

The Stock Transfers function in Adagio Inventory is really the best way to do those inter-location transfers that don't require a lot of work. Though I imagine you are looking for some 'paperwork/forms' to accompany the movement of stock between the warehouse and the gift shop?

One of the features of entering transactions (except receipts) in Adagio Inventory is that you can keep the details in the entry screen without having to post them immediately. Another features is that you can set security to allow entry of stock transfers, but not posting. Something you could do is have someone enter the transfer in Inventory (but not post), then let the warehouse 'see' what's on the list. Then let whomever should do the updating of stock be allowed to post the batch. It's paperless but it would allow multiple people to see the work to be done.

I looked at GridView, but it appears the list of items to transfer (prior to posting) is not an available table, so one cannot create a report or View based on that particular data.

Although this is no better than Nick's suggestion, another workaround is to enter and print a purchase order that is designed to look like a "stock transfer" document, and then delete the PO once the stock is transferred. This is an option for those without Order Entry but with Purchase Orders.

I thought about making a stock transfer but not posting it... however...

1)I need to post other stock transfers while the "order" is being filled.

2)As it is now, after the order is filled the invenotry manager must check the order (which is generally sitting on a cart in the gift store) against the orginal paperwork to ensure accuracy.
