I have a client that is getting an "UNABLE TO LOCK FILE RESOURCE ICLOC. THIS FILE IS IN USE BY USER TIM IN WINDOW ORDER ENTRY"
The programs and data are on a LINUX server.

Hello PWC,
What were they trying to do when the message appeared? What was Tim working on in OrderEntry when this message happened?

What are the version numbers for OrderEntry and Inventory Control?

One was doing receipts, and the other was doing orders. OE 8.0A050419, and IC 8.0A 050516.

It sounds like the program is working properly to me. If Tim is entering an order for item "A", and someone else is recipting item "A", there will be a conflict if they both post at the same time. One user will have to wait while the other process completes.

Or are you saying that the lock message cannot be cleared?

It appears that more stringent record locaking is being enforced by IC 8.0A than was the case in previous versions.

I have a client who daily opens two copies of IC: she adds items in one and enters receipts in the other. This worked fine in IC 6.8B but locks her out in 8.0A. (She is not using any PO program, so the new items are not added until they arrive.)

Can you provide the sequence/steps for this problem? I tried having 2 instances of IC8.0A open, one with Edit Items and the other with Enter Receipts. I created a new item in the first, then went to the 2nd and entered and posted a receipt for that item - without locking messages. I tried this with both instances having the same Adagio user login and also with different logins.

What version of IC80A is in use, and are they entering Item Notes? Are they copying or deleting items?
