A client has 5 different physical locations, all one dataset and networked together. They would like the address of the appropriate location to appear on the customer invoice. Right now, the address of the home office (stored in OE Company Profile) is the one that prints.

Has anyone else faced this challenge and how have you dealt with it? I can think of three approaches but each has a drawback, so rather than state them, I'll solicit feedback from others.

Thanks

Steve

Hold your responses for now. I think one of my approaches will work - creating multiple specs with the address hard-coded, and assigning them under File | Workstation Options depending on the location.

I'll let you know if that works.

I believe your solution assumes 1 user = 1 location. For my clients, that rarely is true.

So the way we solve this problem = PrintBoss. It changes the address based upon the Order Header location code.

Hi Douglas

No, my solution works so long as workstations don't move around, which they rarely do.

PrintBoss was one of my approaches, but the downside is the cost.

Okay, I see what I missed "5 physical locations" so your method does work.

The only thing I don't like about your solution is "A single change will now have to be done 5 times or you will have to do it once and then copy the spec file 5 times and re-change the hard codes address." I will admit that it's cheaper than PrintBoss.

Hi Steve,
We have the same issue with a client located in multiple states, using the same data base, while effectively using different logos depending upon where the order was placed and shipped from.

Print Boss is actually the more cost effective solution, when you add in all of the other printboss benefits. And easier to maintain.

But you know that.

Best,
Brian
