Two general enhancements suggested by a client: 1. When you display one item from a grid (say a vendor in Payables), it would be nice to have "next" and "previous" buttons so you don't have to return to the grid each time to move to the next item. 2. In addition to the Smart Finder, it would be great to have an auto-complete option so that, for example, you could enter the start of a customer code and have the full code and customer name displayed as soon as enough is entered for a unique match. 3. When a distribution code is used to enter invoices in Receivables, the batch listing shows only those codes and not the G/L distribution. Since some clients are using the codes just to automatically calculate taxes, the G/L account code (and description if available) for each line of the invoice would be very helpful for checking for errors. (This would be the same distribution that is shown if the G/L account/department codes are entered rather than a distribution code.)

Hi Ralph Allan: 1. Select "View" instead of "Edit". The Next and Previous buttons are there. 2. Personally, I've always found "auto-complete" annoying, because you had to keep watching the screen. However, we'll record the suggestion. I'm not sure how it would work against a 70,000 record customer list without loading the whole list into memory though. 3. Good idea - we'll make a note. (seems like 3 suggestions to me!)

Hi Andrew - a couple more 1. In OrderEntry, more than two decimals for the unit price. A growing number of clients have been asking about, esp. now that POA has that optio. 2. An Option in the Company Profile for each module to verify the general ledger account number when entering transactions. At the moment, you can add an invalid number and only when it is retrieved to the ledger is the user notified of the error. 3. The ability to complete a DIC on all modules from within a specific module. (May need a 'System Manager' for that). Thanks for a great product! Lars

Hi Lars, 1) If you use Adagio OrderEntry 8.0A, you can define a currency with 3 or 4 decimals. Create a control account in AR that uses this currency, and assign this control account to customers who need more than 2 decimals. This allows you to enter all amounts with more than 2 decimals for these customers. However, this does mean having to enable multicurrency, and you can't change control accounts on existing customers. This would involve selectively bypassing the currency settings for only certain fields, but I believe it's on our list to at least look at feasibility. 2) 'Field Verification' in File / Options already does this. 3) So you are looking for Adagio to have functionality similar to DataCare? Sounds reasonable to me. So I suppose in BC, 'a couple' always gets an extra 50% applied...

Hi Lars, To clarify #1... OrderEntry already carries pricing to 6 decimal places depending on the unit of measure. Make your stocking unit small (ea), and your selling units large (1M) and you'll get three decimal pricing (10M = 4 decimal digits). Nice to already have features without having to do any R&D! Now, I guess we should work on that product documentation!

Andrew, re: "1. Select "View" instead of "Edit". The Next and Previous buttons are there." This works fine for "inquiries." However, if a user needs to, for example, change the terms codes for many Receivables customrs or Payables vendors, they must open and close a lot of screens. If they could make the change for one vendor, then click OK and Next to move on, that would speed the process. (I know that kind of change can be handled nicely by export/inport, but not all users are comfortable with that.)

Like I said, a 'couple of enhancements' since I overlooked the Field Verification in Options. I still would like to see the decimal places increased for the unit selling pricing. The customers want to see the pricing on the invoice in more than two decimals. Lars

Ralph - if a large number of edits are required to customers, such as the terms code, it probably would be easier to export the customer list to Excel - customer code and terms code only - using either the SmartFinder or Export Customers. Make the changes in the Excel file, then import back using a template containing only Customer and Terms code. Set import to 'Overwrite existing records' and not to 'Add new records'. If import/export isn't comfortable, remember that while editing a customer that pressing the Enter key saves the record, down arrow moves to the next record, and Enter edits the highlighted record in the grid. Lars - Andrew's comment was better than mine (that's what I get for posting after 5PM... ). Set up an alternate price list item and define the unit price with 3 to 6 decimals. The Unit Price on order details adheres to this setting. The Line Extension and Total Invoice amount don't - these are based on customer currency settings. Is there something you want to see that isn't covered here? When you say 'customers want to see the priciing', do you mean entry, reports, invoice specs or something else?

Hello Lars, If you want to see all the decimcal digits of the price on the invoice, then right mouse click on the specification code and increase the decimal digits to be displayed.

Hi Ralph Allan, If you start in "View", and select "Edit" then click "OK", you are taken back to the grid. Would it be more useful if you were taken back to the "View" screen? Also, double clicking on a row normally launches in "Edit" on the row record selected. Would it be better if it launched "View"? If you answer "it should be an option", then at what level? (for the User across all companies?, for the Group across all companies?, on a company by company basis?, application wide across all users and companies?) (I know, sometimes there are too many choices.) For block changes, show your clients how to select and export information directly from SmartFinder into Excel, and then how to import from the resulting Excel spreadsheet. Perhaps this should be a topic for a User Group meeting?
