For various reasons, we often have customers with multiple orders in OE and we need to combine their orders together so that the customer will receive the shipment on one packing slip / invoice. We have to combine the orders manually by adding the items from one order to the other and then deleting the duplicate orders. This process is time consuming and opens up the possibility for errors. I'm not aware of a way to combine orders in Adagio OE currently. Is this something Softrak would consider adding in the future?

Hi Susan

I'm not answering for Softrak, but I can tell you that I have gotten this request before, and I have designed a Crystal Report that looks like a packing slip/invoice, and prompts for a range of orders/invoices for a customer.

Besides the effort involved in creating the report, the downsides are that it takes more time to generate, and it doesn't update the Print Status flag in Adagio. But the customer is happy.

What would we do if the Orders had different salespeople? Or expected ship dates? Or...

It's not as simple as it sounds.

I would suggest that it should work in the same way as Toolkit works when you combine customers or items. So with orders, you select Order 1 and "combine into" Order 2. Therefore the salesperson, expected ship date, etc. would become as per Order 2.

Hi Susan

There's a big difference between actually merging two or more orders together, and printing a "combined" pick slip/invoice.

If you really want to merge orders, then that's a Toolkit request. Ask Bob Wisener from Dakota Software.

Since Toolkit requires exclusive access to the data set, that would not work. We need to combine orders during business hours. What we would really like is to have the ability to copy or move detail lines from one order to another.

Hello Susan and Steve,

I would like to see OE go even further and allow all back-ordered items to be merged into the current order and be able to do it from within the order. Of course they would have to be deleted from the original orders at the same time they are merged into the new order. Then the back-ordered items could be reviewed with the customer by phone or email and either remain on the new order or be deleted as the customer prefers. This would be much more efficient than contacting the customer regarding each item as it becomes available.

Hi Susan,
Sorry for the delay in responding. We've been more than busy.

We already have a Link2Systems solution that we think does exactly what you are requesting. Yours is a great idea that a number of clients have also previously requested. Combining sales orders into a single pick slip make a lot of sense and is a common requirement for most distribution sites to reduce shipping costs and make shipping more efficient.

Our solution takes Sales Orders and combines by customer, by ship to location into one Packing Slip, printed by Adagio, and then generates 1 invoice from that packing slip, while updating all back orders on the originating Sale Invoices as on back order. Processed by the same OE End of Day processing.

We have not posted on our www.link2systems.com web site but this will be posted soon along with another 8 or so efficiency solutions that we have created and installed.

Best,
Brian

Thanks Brian. We would like to discuss this further once we get our server situation sorted out.
