We have a situation where we want to have an item temporarily set to a higher price for a period of time. When we put the price in "Sale Price" and set the date accordingly, OE will not use the sale price. It reverts to Base Price, because it is lower. Is there a setting anywhere that I can force OE to use the Sale Price even when it's higher than the Base Price?

There is a setting in Company Profile "Always use special price", and although Special Prices are not date sensitive, it's easy enough to use Export/Import to maintain Special Prices.

Hi Steve,

Okay, so are you saying that I can't force it to take the "Sale Price" when it's higher than the "Base Price" but I can use Special Prices instead? If that's the case, we would have to import a special price on this particular item for every customer in AR. Since that seems a bit excessive, I think it would be easier for us to use an alert on the item and override the price manually. Or just change the Base Price and change it back later.

I'd change the base price and change it back later since it appears you want to charge everyone the higher price. Seems to me that this is a change of pricing, not a "sale".

Okay, will do. It actually is a Sale. The reason it costs more is because when they buy 1 during a certain time period, then we throw in another item for free. So the Sale price is actually for 2 items and the second item goes in at $0. OE and IC seem to have no automated way to handle this scenario, which is fine. There are other easy ways to handle it. I just wanted to know if we could force the Sale Price even when it's higher, which I now know is not possible.

Hi Susan,
You can use the pricing in Alternate Price Lists and assign to a block of customers, because Alternate Price Lists will not take the best price or sale price on the item. ie only the pricing that is in the Alternate Price List. Wish it did take the lower price but it doesn't, so this could work for you depending on how you are already using alternate price lists.
