In the middle of posting a batch, my general ledger module froze and indicated 'not responding'. I can now go back into the module and view but if I try and create a batch, I am told 'error 1342 occurred when attempting to append record to batch control file'; a data integrity check stalls at 'checking batch control files'; and I cannot do a back up.
This problem exists only in one company, I am still able to operate in the general ledger module in other companies.

Hi Tam,
That error is indicative of corrupted data. If you cannot run a backup, you may have to reboot to release a file - which may have been the cause of the error in the first place.

Looks like you will need to restore a backup from prior to the crash or get the database repaired. Your Adagio consultant should be able to assist you with either task.

Determining the cause will be much harder. In the 20 years that I have been doing this its almost always not Adagio and with the exception of the obvious (power failure and computer past its best before date) the failure has to occur a couple of times before you can figure out what is going wrong.
If your workstation or server is more than 4 years old its time to replace it.
