I have installed above on new computer (went from Windows 98 to XP Pro, if it makes a difference). I cannot get the check printer to save. Am using Print Boss, and they suggested I contact Adagio.

Under Print Set-up, it is correct. But, when I go to print a check, it is always back to Default Printer.

In Adagio Checks, the default printer is defined from Options under the File menu. This is the way to assign printing checks to a particular printer other than the Windows default. If you make any changes to the printer location within the print checks function, these changes are not remembered.

Note that for Adagio Checks, this default printer is defined 'company-wide', meaning that any Adagio Checks user attempting to print checks will have that specific printer used as the default. This isn't a problem if only one workstation will be used for printing checks.

It's a single station; under file-options, REPORTS are set to default pritner; CHECK PRINTER is set to specific; but, when I go in to print a check, it's always at DEFAULT printer, not the specific printer set-up under file-options ???

If you have 'Specific' selected for the check printer within File/Options, and a particular printer is selected in the drop-down field next to the 'specific' radio button, then when printing a check batch, this is working fine for me; that specific printer is what comes up as the default. This is with the current shipping version of Adagio Checks.

- From File/Options, do you have a specific printer selected?
- From Help/About, what version of the program are you running?
- The file that gets updated with the printer selection is stored in the \softrak\system directory. Does the user of the workstation have network rights to this location?

From File/Options, Report Printer is default and Check Printer is Specific (NT 40 is it's name);

It is version 6/8A

BUT, when you go to print a check, it says check printer is the default! (an HP4).

I'm running back and forth between the 2 printers to make certain setting are same; just don't get it?

We're single station, so I'm not certain what you mean by does the user have network rights?

OK try this then. Because you changed computers and Windows was 98 and now is XP, printer driver names are different between these operating systems. Win98 attaches an 'on LPT1' at the end and XP doesn't; this is enough to make things different, and if Adagio Checks cannot find the printer with the exact name, it will pick the default printer.

So you may need to 'reselect' the driver. Go into File-Options, and select a new printer driver, save the change and close the window. Then go back in and select the printer you want to print to (NT 40, correct?). Hopefully this should help.

To answer the rights issue question I asked previously, you indicated a single station but I couldn't tell if the program was installed locally or on a network. I take it everything is local then. In Windows XP, you can have different things appear depending on which user logs into the station; I would recommend doing all of the printer setup while logged into Windows as the user rather than Administrator to avoid different things being loaded by Windows.
