Is there any way to have a Discount Amt print on an OE Invoice or Cr Note specification as a negative amount?
(Currently, we are using the spec code E18 which displays the correct amt, but as a positive number.)
For example, instead of displaying the discount as 4.56 it should print (4.56).

I seem to remember that somewhere in Adagio you can print a credit amount as a negative number, but I cannot find it at the moment, and I don't think it was the discount amount field in any case.

Since the Forms Designer does not support calculations, there is no way to do this unless we specifically allow the option or create a field with the sign flipped.

I'll see which is easier (although I'm sure R&D will say that "Less Discount:" should be clear enough! )

I have a simple suggestion if you don't require brackets.

If you are not printing the $ sign, open up Properties for E18 and change the Symbol to a dash. You can use Symbol position to control whether it prints in before or after the amount.

This doesn't help you with Order Entry but if it becomes an issue at another site, The designer in CounterSales supports programming logic that makes it easy to put brackets around negative numbers, or check if the transaction is a credit note and display as negative or with brackets. All of our applications use the same reporting tool and the report designer is included with them.

I thought Samuel was asking if it was possible to display discount amounts as a negative or bracketed value. This is possible in CounterSales due to the flexibility of our specification designer but may not be possible using Order Entry. While I indicated that it may not be applicable to his current site, if this were an important feature at another site, CounterSales might be worth including as it can coexist with Order Entry and enhance the overall functionality of the organizations invoicing functions.
