When using the specification designer (for Checks, Invoices or Statements) I find I cannot select a field that is inside a shape such as a label inside a rectangle.

The only way I have found is to move the rectangle out of the way, select and change the element inside it and then try to get the rectangle back in the correct place again.

Selecting the rectangle and then "return to back" has no effect.

Is there another way to select elements inside a box?

Hi Ralph,

I have found that ?Return to back? is more successful if I use it, then deselect the box, and save the specification.

However, for those instances when even this does not appear to be working, I have another solution. I lasso the Box and the field that is inside it. Then, using the shift-key, I deselect the box.

If you have not lassoed in the specification editor, you do this by holding down the left mouse and then dragging over the items that you want selected.

To add to Ralph's complaint, sometimes for inexplicable reasons the items inside the box do not print, even though in preview mode, they show fine. Of course, I have made sure that the box is set to "transparent".

As a general rule, I avoid boxes, and just use four lines to make a box.

Hi Steve,

I have also had this happen with boxes. It may be related to the Printer Driver.

A statement that works perfectly for me will suddenly not work when printed from another station or to another printer. To workaround this issue, I make the box ?transparent? and I always use ?Return to back? to ensure that the fields are lying on top of the box.
