ODBC Setup on Win 7 Pro workstation, pointing to data on a server, mapped to k:

I am using ODBC 32-bit, V 9.1A (140922)
I am running as administrator

I am setting up a System DSN to the Adagio data.
On my Win 7 Pro laptop, this works properly.
On the client’s Win 7 Pro workstation we are getting only errors:
ODBC – call failed
[DSI] Error message not found: Connect failed (#1)

Very frustrating.
I have setup ODBC links many times before using the older Adagio ODBC.
This is the first time I am trying with V 9.1A (140922).
As mentioned, it is working nicely on my system, but not at the client.

Any suggestions?
Or, would someone be able to remote into our computer and assist?

Hi Samuel,
Is ODBC registered on your clients computer?
Was ODBCV2 installed to a local machine or was it installed on a server?
Are you using 32 bit or 64 bit ODBC Data Source Administrator to create your DSN?
Can you access Adagio data using Excel?

Looking at your DSN I see that you are using * for the Table Selection, this returns all tables. Restricting this to the tables required sometimes helps.

Adagio ODBCV2 error messages are found in

..\Softrak\ODBCV2\ErrorMessages\en-US

as xml files.

Do they exist?

Thank you Michael for your feedback.
I will get back to you on your questions.

In the interim, we are using 32 bit.
We also did not have success connecting to the data using Excel.

Perhaps a bad install? Does the install log show any errors?

Do the values for the following Registry Keys look OK?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\AdagioDataSourceDriver

And
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Softrak Systems\Adagio ODBC

The Registry values are:
C:\Users\JohnD\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts\Softrak\ODBCV2\AdagioODBCv2.dll
and
C:\Users\JohnD\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts\Softrak\ODBCV2

I do not notice any obvious errors in the install log and txt files, but they sure are lengthy with a lot of rows. (I reinstalled the ODBC a number of times, in my attempt to get it up and running.)

For me with a local install into C:\Softrak\ODBCV2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\AdagioDataSourceDriver
Driver & Setup = C:\Softrak\ODBCV2\AdagioODBCv2.dll

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Softrak Systems\Adagio ODBC
HelpDirectory & InstallDirectory = C:\Softrak\ODBCV2

Yours are very different....
Compare these registry entries to the ones from your machine where ODBC is working.
Email the install logs for ODBCV2

i will email the install log files next day.
(The client has left already today and I am unable to get copies of the files.)

My HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\AdagioDataSourceDriveris is also set to : C:\SOFTRAK\ODBCV2\AdagioODBCv2.dll

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Softrak Systems\Adagio ODBC matches your entry with: C:\SOFTRAK\ODBCV2

Here is a question that perhaps I should have asked earlier:
Should the Adagio ODBC install be made to the server, or to each of the local workstations?
Note that all the other Adagio modules are installed from a workstation to the mapped k: drive on the client's server.

It should be installed to the Server like all other Adagio modules. I do not believe there is any "special" procedure when installing Adagio ODBCV2
