I recently moved from my XP computer to a windows 7 Professional, and we re-installed all our Adagio products.

I now have the problem that when I attempt to enter Paydirt, AutoBiz, or Crystal Reports for Adagio 8.5B itself there are about 4 pop ups. It starts as the "Windows Installer" then "Windows Configures Crystal Reports", and it tries several (4 or so) times.

If I hit cancel enough times it will let me continue on with my work, but it pops up every time I enter the software.

I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, and "Run as Administrator" too. I have read some comments online about problems with 8.5 and that it is attempting to update the software, but I haven't figured out if this applies, or how to turn it off.

This pop problem only occurs when Crystal Reports for Adagio 8.5B is installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Any advice anyone? Does Crystal reports for Adagio 8.5B not work with the new operating systems? Do I need to purchase a newer version of Crystal Reports?

Hi, Mike,

With respect to CR4A, there are 2 components that are installed -- the Crystal Reports component and the Adagio component. Just installing the RP8.5B upgrade does not install enough for the program to be functional. You need to install the RP8.5 that you originally purchased and then install the RP8.5B upgrade (which is compatible with Win7 etc.).

Hi Mike, it is definitely possible to run crystal 8.5 on windows 7 and 8, but I've got no experience with the errors you're seeing. I would guess it's related to AutoBiz if that program also has a custom crystal interface, but that's a shot in the dark.

That said, you will want to review the upcoming changes to Adagio's relationship to Crystal reports with your consultant.

Edit: this assumes you have both components installed.

Mike:

Crystal Reports v8.5B does work with Windows 7. When no one responds to an forum post it usually means no one has seen your problem and/or knows the solution to your problem. Answers to a couple of questions might help you find a solution:

Moved my XP to Windows 7: What does that mean? Did you get a new computer? Did you install a Windows 7 upgrade on an old computer? If upgrading an old computer did you install Windows 7 Upgrade over the XP or did you do a fresh full install of Windows 7?

Please describe the workstation (CPU, RAM, hard drive, etc.)

When you say "...there are about 4 pop ups." Do you mean during the install, during launch of the installed application (PrintTool or Crystal Designer), or during launch of an Adagio module? Please be very clear with the steps leading up to the error.

When I looked at the Control Panel, and then the Installed Programs, there was both "Crystal Reports" and "Adagio Crystal Reports 8.5 for Adagio". I uninstalled the "Crystal Reports" and things are now running fine.

Thank you all for offering your assistance. Hope that this has truly fixed the problem, otherwise I will be back here.
