Ralph,
Although I appreciate your frustration, I find your comments unnecessarily inflammatory and inaccurate. Softrak's compatibility page states that it is compatible with Windows 8 and 8.1 which by the way are nearly 2 years and 1 year old respectively. I hardly consider them "new". The peer to peer exception is understandable and while my client is asking for support, by no means did they complain about this issue as if it is Softrak's fault. And their problem is not even related to the peer to peer network since it is occuring on a proper network.
And if they didn't present these issues to Softrak's technical team, how would they be able to learn and improve their program to work with the operating system that it is designed to work on? Should a client who's invested thousands of dollars in a software solution simply stick their head in the sand?
We all know software is ever evolving and presents many challenges to which Softrak does an excellent job responding to. Client feedback and asking for help is much better than them abandoning the product and taking their business elsewhere.

Windows 8/8.1 are not "new", although they are "the latest" and we certainly are confidant that Adagio runs well in those environments. I have had both 8 and 8.1 machine running Adagio without incident, and the machines we are buying for the office are all Windows 8 boxes.
This behaviour is common enough that we know it's a problem. However, at the moment, we don't know what is different about the machines where registry entries are not being written/reported properly. Perhaps it's a rights "thing". Or a trusted drive "thing". We're working to figure it out and, if we are unable to, we will adopt an alternative strategy to deal with Workstation installs.
That's a big job though, and one we'd rather not undertake until we've exhausted other possibilities.

Hi David,
Yes, we think it's a rights issue too. And it has happened on Windows 7 machines too. It's not just Windows 8, although it appears to be happening more frequently on that platform.

I did get a response back from Rod and he suggested a registry fix. Unfortunately, it did not work. I then tried renaming the AdagioPDF folder on our server and that *did* work. While I'm sure this this is not a final solution, the user who was having this trouble just so happens to be our company's Vice President of Finance, so needless to say, it is good that he once again has access to the Adagio programs.
Our company has Adagio on seven computers here, and only one of those is Windows 8.1. So now I know not to upgrade the others to the newer Windows. Thanks.

Andrew (et all): I did not mean my comment as a criticism of Softrak or its programmers; I merely wanted to point out that it takes time (and costs) to make the adjustments to programs needed for a new operating system. That time may be significant -- yes, even two years.
(I, for example, have one client for whom we have not been unable to resolve the "workstation install cycling" issue; every morning she reruns the workstation install on her system and then makes sure to leave Adagio running all day.)

Please have her send the workstation.exe output to Rod.

We are experiencing the same issue in a W8 workstation. We tried running as administrator but that didn't work. If we change the folder name as suggested will this still allow form printing and emailing invoices and statements?

Do you need it for all the workstations having this issue? I am just renaming the ADAGIOPDF folder.
