I'm trying to print to excel, a detail listing of my entire GL for the year but when it runs, the first account is fine and every account after that has every entry sitting in the batch column rather than the Debit or Credit column. So you can't tell what's a debit or a credit.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
Carol

Hi Carol

Printing a standard report such as the Detail Listing from Adagio to Excel has problems with formatting and other than cleaning up the output, there is no solution. It's actually a problem with Crystal Reports, which Adagio uses as its print engine for standard reports.

That being said, why not print the whole report to PDF? Does it really have to be an Excel file?

Thanks Steve

The auditors wanted excel and I've had no problems with smaller subsets so I assumed it could be done. But now I know.

Thanks for your help

Carol

Your auditors are almost certainly using Caseware. Send the a ZIP backup of your GL and tell them they can File | Retrieve all the information in a single step.

You can also export the transactions to Excel.

If they are wanting it for sampling, they may not be using Caseware for that part. They could be using IDEA Data Analysis. (A Caseware Product but not connected to Casware itself)

In that case you would need to export to Excel using the default Transactions template and add Fiscal Year and Fiscal period to the fields selected. The resulting file will be much easier for them to import into IDEA or they can sample in it directly using Filters and Find in Excel.

In the rare case you have Excel 2003, make sure you use CSV for the export in case your GL has more than 65000 transactions. If it doesn't you can then save the file as an Excel file.
