I have attempted to use the NFR version of Gridview 8.0A for the first time. I have pointed the program at client data on the login screen and opened the program. When I attempt to create my first view I receive the error message: 'this function cannot be performed'. I receive this same message when I attempt to work with the sample data as well, so I must have done the setup incorrectly. Can you tell me what needs to be changed?

Thanks for your help,
-Phil

Gridview must be started from a shortcut with a /c on the command line:

The follow is from the Readme file.

/u Allows you to set a default user.

/p Allows you to set a default password.

/d Allows you to set a default data path.

/e Allows you to set a default data extension.

/c Allows you to edit and create new views.

/w Allows you to load a default Workspace.

NOTE: The /c parameter must be on your command line to be able to create and edit views. Do not specify the /c parameter for users who you want to only be able to display and refresh views. The entries on the Windows Start menu for Adagio GridView include the /c parameter by default. If you create a new shortcut for Adagio GridView, be sure to add the /c parameter if you want to be able to create and edit views. If you do not want the user to be able create or edit views, you must remove the /c parameter from the Windows Start menu.

Thanks Michael, that works.

The install process created 2 shortcuts, 1 in the Adagio Program Group folder and 1 in the Gridview folder beneath it. The shortcut in the Gridview folder had the /c switch but the one in the main Adagio Program Group folder did not. I had previously installed an older version of Gridview but had never used it. Perhaps the shortcut without the switch was left over (corrected in the later release) from the 6.5 install procedure.

Thanks again,
-Phil
