Hello:
That's a good question to ask and not enough firms consider the possible problems that can occur. There is some very destructive malware out there, not to mention more common problems like fire, theft and hardware failure.
If we separate Adagio data from the applications themselves, then BKGL...zip and BKAP...zip files should be sufficient for the data. Some firms have more than one dataset and so would need multiple backup sets.
As for the Adagio applications, the original CD's are only useful if you never installed any newer versions. As soon as you installed an update, those CD's became obsolete. To reinstall Adagio you need 2 things: program files that match the version you were using and the installation codes. The program files can be downloaded from Softrak's web-site and the codes are available from your dealer (or Softrak Customer Service). In fact, in a disaster, you would be wise to contact your dealer who can put the pieces back together again.
Having said all of that, you should consider a more comprehensive disaster recovery plan. What about other applications that you might rely on - payroll, Word, Excel, your AR (customers and billings), other utilities? You should have a backup that backs up everything and can quickly and easily get the business up-and-running again. A popular disaster recovery solution in the Adagio community is vitalEsafe. I use it myself and it gives me peace of mind that I'm protected against everything from accidental deletion of files to hardware failure to complete destruction by fire.
