A client sent me a PDF from one of their suppliers that they want to emulate for their customers. It shows a small image of the item next to each item number.

1. Is it possible to pull the image url from the item master file and convert it to an image itself on the form?

2. If not, is it possible to print the url onto the form, and then maybe use an add-on such as PrintBoss to convert the url to the image itself.

3. If not either, is there a solution for them?

Thanks

Steve

Steve:

I think you could do this in PrintBoss by reading the item number and then inserting it into a path to the picture:

x:\pictures\<item#>.jpg

Where <item#> is a variable read off the invoice by PrintBoss.

Requires that the invoice details be mapped in the PrintBoss form, something we have done before.

The image names do not correspond to the item numbers, mostly because multiple items may share the same image.

I don't think the image path is printable on a spec. Does anyone know?

If not, what can I suggest to accomplish Doug's suggestion?

Steve:

I don't need the full path to the image file, just the file name. The path can be defaulted.

I do need some means to identify the file name. If one image serves multiple items then store the file name in one of the additional information lines or in an optional text field.

That means they would have to maintain the image file name in two places because they do like to look at the image when they are entering an order. Which means more possibility for errors.

But I guess as a last resort I can offer the option.

Steve:

Unless we can find some way to identify the file name based upon the item number or some other field that can be stored in IC and printed on an invoice, then you are correct.

Dear Softrak

Consider this a request to have the image path field be available for use on OE (and CQ) specifications.

And to go one step further, it would be even better if the program could find the linked image and print it, especially when printing to PDF.
